Federal Solar Incentives
Business Energy Investment Tax Credit (ITC) This program gives businesses a 30% tax rebate for Solar Water Heat, Solar Space Heat, Solar Thermal Electric, Solar Thermal Process Heat, Photovoltaic (PV) electric. The tax credit is valid for products and labor and has no maximum credit. The program expires 12/30/2016
Treasury Grant Program-.As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the US Department of Treasury is offering payments in lieu of tax rebates for business properties only. This is also known as the Section 1603 program. For more information about this program contact Superior Solar.

Solar Energy Systems Equipment Sales Tax Exemption
This law allows consumers to buy PV, solar water heaters and solar pool heaters without sales tax.
Local Utility Energy Rebates
Orlando Utility Commission Commercial Solar Incentives
OUC is offering a 5 cent per KWH rebate and a 3 cent per KWH to commercial customers with solar PV systems and 3 cents for commercial solar hot water systems. They also offer net metering for PV systems which pays your business for any excess energy produced. To qualify businesses must use an OUC Preferred Contactor. Superior Solar Systems LLC is an OUC Preferred Contractor.
OUC Photovoltaic (PV) Credit Program
OUC is offering commercial customers a 5 cent per KWH rebate for all energy produced by the solar PV system. They also provide net metering for their commercial customers. That means they will pay to buy any excess energy produced by the system. OUC requires that the business use an OUC Preferred Contractor and that a separate meter is installed to measure the systems output.

OUC Solar Thermal Program
OUC also offers its commercial customers a 3 cent per KWH for solar hot water systems. They will also receive a onetime $250 credit to cover the installation of the BTU meter. Customers must use an OUC Preferred Contractor to be eligible for the rebate.
Progress Energy SunSense Commercial Solar PV Program
Progress Energy Florida will begin accepting applications at 8 a.m. Oct. 1, 2012, for customers to apply for the 2013 rebates.
Progress Energy Is allocating $1,000,000 per year through 2014 for photovoltaic rebates. The program provides rebates up to $130,000 per installation. The rebate amount depends on the size of the installed solar panels DC ratings.
- $2.00/watt – For the first 10 kW
- $1.50/watt – 10 kW – 50 kW
- $1.00/watt – 50 kW – 100 kW
Florida Power and Light (FPL) Solar Rebates for Business
FPL Business PV Rebate
All of the funds for 2013 business PV program have been reserved and the standby list is full. Applications for 2014 will accepted in October 2012. The program will rebate up to $50,000 per property or up to $150,000 for multiple properties. The rebate amount depends on the DC ratings of the solar panels:
- $2 per direct current (DC) watt nameplate rating of the solar panel up to the first 10 kilowatts;
- $1.50 per DC watt nameplate rating of the solar panel from 10 kW up to 25 kW; and
- $1 per DC watt nameplate rating of the solar panel greater than 25 kW
FPL Business Solar Water Heating Program Rebate
FPL is offering up to $50,000 per installation and up to $150,000 for multiple installation at multiple locations. The amount of the rebate will depend on the size of the system installed.
